We’re not the only ones weathering cold temperatures right now. Not all birds travel south for the winter, and you can attract them to your backyard with this easy recipe for homemade suet.

Homemade Winter Suet
Ingredients:
1 cup crunchy peanut butter
1 cup lard (not Crisco or shortening)
2 cups quick cooking oats
2 cups cornmeal
1-1/2 cups birdseed (sunflower hearts and chips)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar

Melt peanut butter and lard in pan. Stir in all remaining ingredients. Pour into molds that will fit the size of your feeder about 1-1/2 to 2 inches thick. You can just pour it into a square pan and cut to fit or pour into muffin tins. Store in the freezer.
